- ➤ The Arbor Day Foundation named Roanoke a 2024 Tree City USA because the city met key standards such as having a tree board, a tree ordinance, and proper spending on urban forestry—rules that support lasting community benefits. WSLS 10
- ➤ Claytor Lake reopened for the season after months of cleanup following Hurricane Helene, with officials confirming safe water and removal of over 4,000 tons of wood debris—making the lake ready for boaters, swimmers, and anglers. - ➤ The 70th Annual Vinton Dogwood Festival kicked off Friday night in downtown Vinton with a Journey tribute band that drew crowds for live music and food.
