GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Starting Thursday, Jan. 1, Virginia minimum wage workers will see a 36-cent hourly increase to $12.77 per hour, following a four-year pattern of small annual raises. The raise adjusts for inflation even as the rate stays below the $15 goal. WDBJ7
- ➤ Gov. Glenn Youngkin announced Thursday that over $15 million was allocated to the Workforce Housing Investment Program, which will fund 550 new housing units in 14 communities (Roanoke received $2.5 million, Danville got $2 million, and Lynchburg was awarded $250,000). WSLS 10
- ➤ A new Squaremouth study shows that West Virginia leads in flight delays with 24.9% of flights delayed while Virginia follows with 22% setbacks, and Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport will receive over $20 million in federal funding to boost travel improvements. WSLS 10
