- ➤ Roanoke is accepting nominations for its 2025 Citizen of the Year award until Nov 21—nominees must be residents who have volunteered for at least three years and performed duties beyond their regular job expectations. - ➤ Campbell County is planning a waste transfer station to gather and move trash because the current landfill in Rustburg will fill by 2029—officials expect to pick a site and secure a private partner within the next year. - ➤ Governor Youngkin announced on November 7 that Virginia submitted its application for $1 billion federal Rural Health Transformation funding under H.R. 1 to launch the VA Rural Vitality plan that will modernize rural healthcare by empowering healthier lives, expanding the workforce, reimagining care delivery, and investing in innovation.
