- ➤ Restoration Housing started its tenth project on Dale Avenue SE today when it broke ground on a fire-damaged late 1800s house to be converted into one-bedroom apartments for two previously homeless tenants—historic tax credits and American Rescue Plan funds will cover a $300,000 investment expected to be recouped through grants. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Virginia’s deer hunting season will begin Saturday and hunters in six counties—including Roanoke, Patrick, Smyth, Tazewell, Wythe, and Shenandoah—must have their deer tested for Chronic Wasting Disease to track and control its spread. Hunters must also report where they shot the deer and can get replacement tags if a deer tests positive. WDBJ7

- ➤ The City of Roanoke is hosting four community listening sessions under the Engagement Ready Roanoke project — a session was held on November 12 at Patrick Henry High School Cafeteria, one is taking place today at Western Virginia Water Authority on Hollins Road, and additional sessions are set for November 15 at the Fire-EMS Training Center and November 17 at the Community Empowerment Center.
