ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ First responders including the Virginia Department of Forestry have battled brush fires near Route 460 in Montvale and kept them about 75% contained as residents evacuated earlier now return home. Motorists on US-460 near Lynn Lane face delays because a westbound lane and shoulder are closed while water refill sites in Bedford County support firefighting efforts—officials continue to monitor the situation. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A threat called in shortly before 2 p.m. on Wednesday led to a brief lockdown at Cave Spring High School—police confirmed the threat was not credible, dismissals at other schools were delayed, and an increased police presence was maintained for the rest of the week. WDBJ7
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Cheryl Facciani, the current board member, and Ryan White, a doctor for children and teens, are competing for the Windsor Hill seat on the Roanoke County School Board.
