  • Salem Animal Hospital celebrated its 80th anniversary on Saturday with a ribbon cutting for its new 9,000 square foot two-story building & upgrades including a special procedures room, updated exam rooms, a new lobby, and an expanded lab and pharmacy. The hospital can now safely care for up to 60 animals and welcomes all sick pets for treatment.  WSLS 10
  • The Roanoke Valley SPCA is hosting its annual SPAYghetti fundraiser tomorrow at The Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Roanoke with lunch from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and supper from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.—advance tickets cost $10 for the vegetarian option or $15 for spaghetti with meatballs, and they can be used for dine-in, drive-thru, or take-out—with special pricing for young diners.  WFXR-TV

  • Roanoke educator Dolores Johns recalled how her students helped integrate local retail stores in the 1960s. She said their efforts broke racial barriers—marking an important milestone in the city's integration history.  The Roanoke Times
