- ➤ Roanoke Parks and Recreation started a pilot goatscaping project in the Wasena neighborhood using over 20 goats and sheep to eat invasive plants at Valley Avenue Park. The animals will clear kudzu, poison ivy and other brush on two acres in about two weeks — if the project succeeds, the city may use them again every six to eight months. Cardinal News

- ➤ Agencies in Roanoke are preparing for a potential federal government shutdown— the Local Office on Aging has set contingency plans so Meals on Wheels and transportation programs can continue temporarily without causing undue worry for clients. WSLS 10
- ➤ Last Saturday the Equity and Empowerment Advisory Board met at Williams Memorial Baptist Church to gather public feedback on a proposed apology for the city's past urban renewal that harmed Black neighborhoods—but only five people attended due to limited promotion.
