- ➤ Roanoke’s Two Men and a Truck will launch its third annual Movers for Mutts campaign from Oct. 1 to Oct. 31—benefiting Angels of Assisi, a local nonprofit that provides pet adoptions, veterinary care and support. Donations of pet toys, food, litter, cleaning supplies, collars, leashes and blankets can be dropped off at its Roanoke/Salem location on East Main Street. WSLS 10
- ➤ Habitat for Humanity opened the 297th home in the Roanoke Valley for Dina Aristilde, a Carilion Clinic worker and mother of four originally from Haiti. The home was built with about 70% volunteer work and church donations and the project will expand with another home planned for Church Avenue. WSLS 10
- ➤ Disabled American Veterans and RecruitMilitary are co-hosting the Eastern Region Virtual Veterans Career Fair on September 30 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for veterans, spouses, and military personnel to explore job opportunities, career counseling, and benefits support—over 51 employers from various industries will offer positions from entry-level to management. - ➤ Roanoke's Bus Riders of Roanoke Advocacy Group and PedalSafe ROA challenge residents and local leaders to try new ways to get around during Week Without Driving, which runs today through October 5.
