  • Sinkland Farms will host its 34th annual pumpkin festival from September 25 to November 2 with hayrides, live music, craft beer, food trucks and a corn maze — the farm was recently rated #4 for its pumpkin patch and corn maze by USA TODAY.  WSLS 10
  • Patrick County father Chris Worley wrote a book recounting his daughter Lauren’s near-death crash on Virginia 8 on Dec. 16th, 2023, and her 63-day recovery at a Roanoke hospital. He said the book, inspired by strong community support and answered prayers, will see proceeds donated to local first responders—reflecting a remarkable miracle.  The Roanoke Times

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City Manager Valmarie Turner announced that starting Sept. 29 almost 2 miles of Williamson Road will be repainted for a six-month trial to improve safety and reduce collisions—officials plan to narrow the road to one lane in each direction with a dedicated center turn lane for better traffic flow. The project will be monitored using traffic data and business feedback to evaluate its impact on congestion and pedestrian safety.  Roanoke.com
