- ➤ The second annual Glaze for Gold fundraiser kicked off Saturday at Glazed Bisque-It in Roanoke to help survivors of childhood cancer. The event, led by two-time survivor Juanita Prada, lets locals paint pottery—half of the proceeds will benefit Behold Be Gold as it works toward nonprofit status. WSLS 10
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Roanoke County Fire and Rescue responded at 4:35 p.m. on September 6 to a house fire on the 5900 block of Garner Road in Cave Spring that was quickly extinguished without injuries—officials are investigating the cause. WDBJ7
- ➤ A fire broke out at the Cave Spring house on September 6 at 7:51 p.m.—emergency crews responded and officials are now investigating the cause. WDBJ7
- ➤ A man was injured when his vehicle rolled over him while he tried to free it on private property Saturday, September 6 + his three children in the car were unharmed as he was transported to Carilion Roanoke Hospital in critical condition. WDBJ7
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Roanoke City Council approved a $400 million bond for Carilion Clinic to finance and refinance projects such as the new Crystal Spring Tower, and council members clarified that these bonds do not obligate the city. The meeting also covered a plan to use goats for vegetation control at Valley Avenue Park & receiving $21.4 million from VDOT to fund paving projects. Roanoke.com
