- ➤ A person died after a medical emergency occurred during the booking process at a Roanoke detention center on August 27th; staff provided CPR until Fire/EMS arrived, and the individual was taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital where a doctor pronounced the death while Virginia State Police launched an investigation. - ➤ Roanoke County Public Schools is holding four community meetings at 6 p.m.—three on cellphone dangers at William Byrd, Northside and Cave Spring High Schools and one on suicide prevention at Northside—to address student mental health issues following the suicide of 10-year-old Autumn Bushman.
