  • Mac and Bob’s restaurant in Salem has a new owner, Dave Magrogan, who will keep the same menu, staff, and community spirit while making a few upgrades—Bob Rotanz and Joe Dishaw will stay on—helping guide the transition after a 45-year history.  WFXR-TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • Roanoke’s Festival of India returns next Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Elmwood Park in Roanoke and will showcase Indian music, dance, art, and delicious food—allowing locals to experience traditional culture.  WSLS 10

ECONOMY NEWS

  • UK based company Pluck’d announced Friday that it is investing $104.5 million to build a 65 acre greenhouse at Wildwood Commerce Park in Austinville. The project will add 265 jobs and produce 45 million pounds of fresh tomatoes for east coast distribution with the first tomatoes expected on shelves in spring 2026 — Governor Glenn Youngkin said.  WFXR-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Saturday, the expanded Roanoke Regional Readiness Center in Troutville opened to boost National Guard support with modern training areas and an upgraded maintenance shop—key for supporting 270 soldiers on drill weekends. The 229th Chemical Company will soon relocate from Rocky Mount to this facility.  The Roanoke Times
