- ➤ The Roanoke County Police and Sheriff’s Department hosts Cuts with Cops today at 10 a.m. at the Carilion Children’s Center at Tanglewood, offering free haircuts, vaccines and school supplies to help families get ready for school—over 700 backpacks, 600 pairs of shoes and socks, and 600 meals have been donated to support the event. - ➤ Boar’s Head plans to reopen its deli meat plant in Jarratt in the coming months after USDA officials lifted its suspension, but recent reports have documented similar sanitation problems to those that led to last year’s deadly outbreak. Inspection records from other sites in Arkansas, Indiana & Virginia show issues such as meat residue on equipment while the company posts job openings as it works to improve food safety measures.
