- ➤ The Highland County Fair in Monterey will return from Aug. 27 through Aug. 30 with agricultural showcases, live music, competitions and family events. A horse show will kick off the festivities on Aug. 23—followed by a parade on Aug. 27. WSLS 10

- ➤ Roanoke College and Virginia Western Community College signed an agreement last month that creates a seamless biotechnology degree path—students who finish a 2-year associate degree at VWCC can transfer to RC to complete their Bachelor’s degree.
