- ➤ FloydFest 25~Aurora started on July 23 and will run through July 27 as it marks 25 years of music in the mountains. Thousands of fans will enjoy seven stages and hundreds of food vendors, with nine new acts and improved logistics — better transportation, extra shade and enhanced safety measures — boosting the festival experience. - ➤ Roanoke honored Arthur Taubman with a historical marker on the 200 block of McClanahan Street SW—Taubman turned Advance Auto Parts into an international powerhouse, saved over 500 Jews during World War II, and fought racial and religious prejudice. The marker, placed near his former home, celebrates his lasting impact on our local history. WDBJ7
- ➤ Tomorrow's Leaders will host their third annual Talent in the Star showcase at the Jefferson Center on August 1 to spotlight local youth and encourage them to shine through the pressure. WFIR News

- ➤ Officials at Appalachian Power warned boaters, kayakers and tubers that water levels on the New and Roanoke rivers could have risen rapidly starting on Wednesday if a power increase was ordered after a directive from PJM (levels below Claytor Dam may have jumped 2 feet in minutes while those below Leesville Dam might have risen 8 feet over several hours).
