ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Roanoke officials determined the cause of the fire that broke out on July 3 — the investigation is now complete.  WDBJ7
  • An apartment fire in Roanoke injured three people—one critically—on July 3, and local firefighters worked to contain the blaze.  WDBJ7
  • On Tuesday, July 2, a car crash occurred at the corner of Moneta Rd. — Whitehouse Rd. in Moneta when first responders removed the roof and doors to free a trapped driver who was taken to a hospital while state police investigate the incident.  WDBJ7
  • At 12:29 a.m. today, firefighters responded to a 2-alarm fire at an apartment building on Westside Blvd NW and had contained the flames by 1:00 a.m. while three residents were injured (one in critical condition) and six displaced, with aid provided by the Red Cross.  WFIR News

  • Spotted Lanternflies are back in Roanoke and will remain common this summer. Experts at Virginia Tech advise homeowners to remove egg masses and use approved pesticides on grape crops — the insects do not bite or sting but can damage valuable vineyards.  WFXR-TV
