ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Roanoke Fire-EMS responded to a structure fire on the 300 block of Collingwood Street Northeast at 7:17 a.m. on Sunday and had the flames under control by 7:34 a.m.—no injuries were reported though several residents were displaced and are now being assisted by the Red Cross. WSLS 10

- ➤ Officers arrived at 7:28 p.m. on Saturday on the 4400 block of Huff Lane NW in Roanoke, where a man sustained serious injuries from a shooting and was taken to a local hospital—police are investigating the case. ABC 13
- ➤ Two individuals were arrested in Franklin County during a drug and gun bust yesterday—officials said more details remain pending. WDBJ7
- ➤ Prince Edward County officials issued an emergency alert after Roanoke Police confirmed that 24-year-old Rayjuan Antonio Calloway allegedly shot his father and fired at an officer around 7:30 a.m. on Hixburg Road—residents within a five-mile area are told to shelter in place. ABC 13

- ➤ On June 22, couples enjoyed a special dinner at the Regency Room in Hotel Roanoke where Lady Jean and TFox performed live R&B and gospel music. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Lucy Addison High School has been added to the Virginia Landmarks Register for its role in educating African American students during segregation—its 1928 brick building later served as school offices until 2025. Starting next week, the building will begin renovations to host the Community Empowerment Center at Booker T. Washington and will receive a highway marker this fall to honor its legacy. - ➤ Roanoke-Blacksburg Airport has refreshed its logo and simplified its brand name today after more than 30 years to match the region’s growth. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Virginia Tech scientists are testing a new focused ultrasound method to deliver creatine across the blood-brain barrier in lab models of creatine deficiency—this project, led by researchers Chin-Yi Chen and Cheng-Chia Wu and supported by a $30,000 grant from the Association for Creatine Deficiencies, could improve brain cell energy. Further studies will determine if the technique can restore normal brain function in future treatments. The Roanoke Star
