CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Roanoke police have named 45-year-old Joshua Robert Presley as the suspect in the murder of Meagan Martin whose body was found outside her home last Tuesday+ they issued a warrant for his arrest on a second-degree murder charge and urged anyone with information to call 911 immediately. WDBJ7
- ➤ On Monday, Roanoke police received a missing person report for Meagan Martin and began a search that led to her being found dead outside her home + the investigation is ongoing. The Roanoke Times
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Roanoke Pinball Museum announced Wednesday that its 10th anniversary is today—opening its doors all day for a $10 celebration that includes a limited edition souvenir pin. WSLS 10
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Roanoke County Public Schools joined the Future of High School Network—led by the Carnegie Foundation—to improve its Opportunity Ready program that builds skills like communication and collaboration. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Roanoke's Clean Valley Council is hosting the second annual Rethink, Reuse, Repair Fair at Wasena Park — the event runs from 10 to 3 this Saturday and will offer workshops to teach visitors how to repair and upcycle items in inflationary times. Local tinkerers and repair experts will share their skills to help reduce waste and extend the life of everyday objects. WVTF

- ➤ Today, the City of Roanoke's stormwater department is asking residents to share stories, pictures, and videos from the Flood of 85 for a project that both preserves local history and guides improvements in flood management. The project will create an interactive story map, install flood markers, and publish a newspaper combining original 1985 reports with new accounts — with submissions accepted until September 1 — and will be completed before the anniversary.
