- ➤ Hospitality House of the Blue Ridge is preparing to close on a property near Carilion Roanoke Memorial to offer low-cost housing for out-of-town patients—its $5.5 million capital campaign is ongoing. WFIR News

- ➤ Virginia State Police issued a CODI alert for missing Roanoke teen Isabelle Renee Atkins, 15, who was last seen Wednesday at about 9 p.m. on Dale Avenue Southeast wearing a black T-shirt and blue jeans — police say she is 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighs about 150 pounds, and may be traveling on foot. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Roanoke City Sheriff’s Office has launched its Summer Transparency Tour, running from June 10 through September 30, with visits to different public venues every Tuesday evening—residents can ask questions and learn about law enforcement services. Officials say the tour will provide direct access to staff and clear explanations on new laws and programs. WDBJ7
- ➤ Virginia voters have until Saturday to cast early votes for the 2025 primary election, which includes races for Lieutenant Governor and Attorney General. Nearly 143,000 ballots have already been cast (in person or by absentee) and local voter registration offices remain open (until June 14) for early voting. WSLS 10
- ➤ The two candidates for governor this fall said they will eliminate the most disliked Virginia car tax—an important revenue source for local governments. However, lawmakers will need to replace the roughly $2.5 to 3 billion a year in lost revenue if the tax is removed. WSLS 10
- ➤ Bedford County Sheriff’s Office appointed Captain Christian Edmondson to lead its Administration Division—making her the first woman on its command staff. She began her career at 21 and worked as a patrol deputy and investigator before being promoted to Sergeant in 2021. WSLS 10
- ➤ The Roanoke City Sheriff’s Office kicked off its summer transparency tour on June 11 by holding events that let residents learn about department operations + ask questions. The office plans to host additional sessions to improve public trust as the tour continues. WDBJ7
