- ➤ Roanoke City officials held a ribbon-cutting ceremony today for the new Washington Park pool where children from the West End Center for Youth tested the splash features, lap pool, lazy river — and 14-foot water slide built by National Pools of Roanoke. The pool opens for public use Saturday at 11 a.m. with admission at $3 for those 16 and older, $2 for children ages 5 to 15 and free for kids under four. WFXR-TV
- ➤ A local non-profit agency leader said Roanoke is at a tipping point amid funding uncertainty—urging community members to step up after releasing a memo last week. WFIR News

- ➤ Appalachian Power launched a storm preparedness video series today, posting three short clips on social media titled 'Before the Storm + During the Storm + After the Storm' to help customers get ready for severe weather. - ➤ Gas prices in Roanoke dropped by 2.4 cents per gallon today to average $2.86, according to GasBuddy. They are 38.2 cents lower than a year ago—ranging from $2.59 to $3.16 per gallon. WDBJ7

- ➤ The Library of Virginia will bring its LVA On the Go mobile van to the Williamson Road Branch at 3837 Williamson Road on Saturday, June 14 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.—offering residents a chance to register for library accounts and explore historical research resources. The Roanoke Star

- ➤ Today the Roanoke City Sheriff’s Office launches its Summer Transparency Tour to let residents meet staff and learn about its operations—tomorrow’s meeting will be at the Raleigh Court Library in the Community Room from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and the tour will continue every Tuesday through September 30th. - ➤ Roanoke pediatricians say parents should schedule well visits to get key vaccines before next school year starts so school forms and catch-up shots in August do not delay entry for young students (this is especially urgent amid recent measles cases).
