- ➤ Roanoke’s Bubba’s 33 will host a fundraiser on June 18 to support the American Eagle Foundation by donating 100% of dine-in and to-go profits in honor of its mascot Ace — the event aims to back efforts to conserve birds of prey. The Roanoke Star

- ➤ Bedford County Sheriff's Office said a blue Chevrolet 2500 pickup built in 2010 with four doors, a ladder rack and extra chrome steps was stolen from the 1800 block of Everett Road between 9:00 p.m. Saturday and 4:00 a.m. Sunday + the vehicle was last seen in Roanoke County early Saturday and anyone with information is urged to call Dispatch or Central Virginia Crime Stoppers. - ➤ Roanoke Ballet Theatre performed its version of Snow White in Lynchburg on June 8 and will show it next weekend at Jefferson Center on Saturday, June 14 and Sunday, June 15. The ballet uses strong dance moves and bright costumes to tell the old story of good versus evil. WSLS 10

- ➤ A new report shows that millennials have largely left Southwest Virginia but the rate of departure is slowing, with some counties now keeping more young adults. Economic factors like high housing costs and increased remote work are changing this trend—demographics researcher Hamilton Lombard noted the drop has fallen from thousands to only hundreds in many areas. - ➤ Nearly 900 Roanoke high school seniors will graduate this week with William Fleming students walking the stage at 10 a.m. Thursday and Patrick Henry seniors at 10 a.m. Friday at the Berglund Center—many, including Ja’Zyah English-Bey, overcame challenges with support from family and teachers. - ➤ Police in Virginia are using license plate cameras more often to catch auto theft—funded by a program called HEAT that takes a small part of auto insurance premiums. Lisa Rowan followed this story and spoke with reporter Fred Echols to explain the details. WVTF
- ➤ The City of Roanoke was recognized as a top employer for interns by the Virginia Talent + Opportunity Partnership for the third year in a row. Thirteen new interns started work on June 2 in various city departments and may later be hired for full-time public service roles. WSLS 10
- ➤ Officials say the Salem district received no high-priority Smart Scale funding this round after 34 transportation projects were scored, leaving key projects in Roanoke without state support. They will rework proposals and meet with VDOT on June 26 to discuss changes to the scoring criteria — aiming for better funding outcomes in round seven. Roanoke.com
