- ➤ Melrose Plaza in NW Roanoke will celebrate its grand opening on July 31 with plans for community festivities & new business opportunities, marking a fresh start for the area. WDBJ7
- ➤ Today at 3:00 p.m., Washington Park Pool held a ribbon-cutting ceremony as Vice Mayor McGuire, Parks and Recreation Director Cindy McFall and other city leaders waded into the water—cutting the ribbon to open the newly relocated pool on the park’s south side near Orange Avenue. Children from West End Center took an inaugural swim, and the pool, featuring a lazy river, slides and lap lanes, will open to the public tomorrow. The Roanoke Star

- ➤ VSP issued a CODI Alert today for Kiernan Toy Kazuhiki Terry, a 14-year-old white male with blonde hair and blue eyes—he was last seen on the 500 block of Yorkshire Street in Salem at 2:20 p.m. Thursday wearing black Nike sweatpants, a black hoodie with a white graphic, and a black beanie. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Today, Bradley Free Clinic eliminated its six-month counseling waitlist by referring patients to the Virginia Telemental Health Initiative—a statewide program offering immediate free mental health services to uninsured and underinsured patients. Since January, the clinic has referred about 80 patients to this telehealth service, with over 300 visits as counseling appointments increased by 5%. WSLS 10
- ➤ Doctors at Carilion Children’s advise parents to schedule back-to-school vaccinations for their children as summer begins — with appointments filling up quickly.
