ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A deadly accident at Crabtree Falls occurred around 8 p.m. when a hiker, Taniya Flowers, fell into a waterfall and another, Keturah Hendricks, was left seriously injured after crossing a safety railing—witnesses stressed the need to follow trail signs in Nelson County. ABC 13
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Virginia State Police identified 67-year-old bicyclist Jerome Stephens George from Jacksonville, Florida as the victim of a fatal hit-and-run on Nemmo Road in Bedford County on May 24—police are still searching for the pickup truck driver who left the scene. WDBJ7
- ➤ Roanoke police responded around 11 p.m. Saturday to a shooting on the 2700 block of Glengary Ave NW that left 31-year-old Devin Price Singleton dead—U.S. Marshals later arrested 43-year-old Antonio Demetrus Dudley, who is charged with second-degree murder. ABC 13
- ➤ The Roanoke Police said 12-year-old Paris Unique Pagan is endangered missing after she was last seen Saturday in the 4800 block of Lanford Street NW wearing a blue crop top, black pants and a scrunchie—anyone with information should call 540-344-8500. ABC 13
- ➤ On May 24 at 11:05 p.m., officers responded to calls on the 2900 block of Glengary Ave NW and found a man shot dead — no arrests have been made as the investigation continues. WFIR News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Today the Roanoke County Board of Supervisors will adopt the fiscal year 2026 budget at 2 p.m. at the Administration Center. The plan totals about $272 million—nearly $12 million more than last year—and includes increased tax revenues, a 1-cent drop in the real estate tax rate, and higher funding for schools and most county employees.
