  • Roanoke native Bryce Cobbs has begun painting a new mural at Melrose Plaza that draws inspiration from the Sankofa bird—symbolizing learning from the past—and is titled 'Rooted in Joy.'   • Roanoke County Public Schools earned its first Stormwater Clean Award on May 16 for excellent stormwater management at the upcoming Career and Technical Education Center on Peters Creek Road—efforts that controlled erosion and sedimentation during heavy rains and strong winds were recognized by the county’s Contractor Appreciation Program.  Roanoke County

  • In celebration of Gut Health Awareness Month, Dr. Alicia Hollis explained that the gut acts as a barrier to absorb nutrients and block harmful particles, and that stress during meals can impair digestion + leaving one with symptoms like brain fog and fatigue. She recommended simple stress-reducing techniques such as deep breathing to help the gut and brain work together.  WDBJ7
  • Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital opens its expanded emergency department today with the region’s first pediatric trauma bay — a key part of the $500 million Crystal Spring Tower project. The expansion adds three trauma bays to improve care and lower wait times as the hospital prepares to add more emergency beds this summer.  Cardinal News
