- ➤ Work has begun to add 4 miles to the Mill Mountain trail system by the Roanoke Parks Foundation — a nonprofit formed in 2022 to support local parks and outdoor recreation. Roanoke.com
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Roanoke police are asking for help to identify someone seen holding a victim's leash after five off-leash dogs attacked a man and his dog in the 3600 block of Ferncliff Ave NW on March 30th— the man took minor injuries and his dog required veterinary care. ABC 13
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Roanoke nonprofit No Bounds will host a fish fry on April 16 to raise funds for programs that help students with intellectual disabilities and support a new health and wellness initiative called T.H.R.I.V.E at Gold’s Gym on Airport Road — the event will also help fund plans for a future center. - ➤ A former assistant principal at Glen Cove Elementary School was demoted for supporting gay rights and filed a lawsuit against the school system Friday. Roanoke.com

- ➤ A measure in Congress to let new parents vote by proxy was tabled, so state lawmakers are now looking at ways to allow remote voting for parents in office—Virginia Del. - ➤ Runners completed the Foot Levelers Blue Ridge Marathon on Saturday—a course known as America’s toughest road race—and many said the event lived up to its reputation. Roanoke.com
- ➤ The Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs were eliminated from the SPHL playoffs after losing by a score of 6 to 2 in Game Three to the Knoxville Ice Bears at the Berglund Center.
