ECONOMY NEWS

  • Roanoke gasoline prices rose nearly 5¢ to average $3.76 per gallon on Monday (Mar. 30) based on GasBuddy’s survey of 155 local stations.  WDBJ7
  • In Virginia, women earn 74 cents for every dollar a man makes, a gap that reduces their ability to pay for childcare, health insurance and mortgage payments. The National Partnership for Women and Family has fought this wage gap for 50 years.  WFIR News
  • Gas prices in Virginia increased by 3.4 cents last week, reaching an average of $3.88 per gallon on Monday from a GasBuddy survey of 4,081 stations (the cheapest was $3.24 and the priciest was $5.49), while national fuel prices also rose.  ABC 13

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Campbell Court Elementary School special educator Michelle Fulcher earned the March Education Impact Award and a bonus from Blue Eagle Credit Union for her work with autistic students. She has taught for 11 years and her dedication helps students take small steps toward independence.  WSLS 10
  • Carilion is investing $1.25 million to fund health sciences training at the new Roanoke County Career and Technology Center, set to open early 2027. The five-year partnership will support courses like dental assistant and radiological technician classes while continuing to cover teacher salaries.  WDBJ7
