- ➤ A Roanoke woman, Jaimeka Michelle Austin, 31, pleaded guilty in court to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering for using false information to get COVID relief loans — she agreed to repay nearly $190,000 and now faces a long prison term. WDBJ7

- ➤ Roanoke County and VDOT held an open house at Oak Grove Elementary to share plans to improve safety along Electric Road. The project will use $10 million in state funds to add sidewalks, pedestrian signals, and restricted crossing U-turns, with work starting in 2027—mostly at night to keep traffic moving. WDBJ7
