  • The 20th annual Soup for Seniors food drive is behind its goal as winter storms slowed donations and left many seniors at risk. Volunteers and donors can help at the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul until Monday, Feb. 9 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  WDBJ7
  • BackRidge Drone Services reunited 12-year-old blind Lab Brody with his family Wednesday after he went missing around 7 a.m. on Feb. 4; his recovery took about 40 minutes and he received a vet checkup afterward.  ABC 13

CULTURE NEWS

  • Virginia Lee, a dedicated librarian at Gainsboro Library, fought to preserve Black literature in the 1940s when officials demanded her collection be removed. Her legacy endures at 15 Patton Ave NW as the library honors her work with a commemorative marker (dedicated in 2023).  WSLS 10
  • A one-woman play blending dark comedy and social commentary debuts Thursday on Waldron Stage for a weekend run. Written by Lauren Gunderson and starring Marci Duncan, it uses a tornado warning as a metaphor for domestic abuse and will include talkbacks with local resource centers.  WFIR News
