- ➤ Roanoke County Parks, Recreation & Tourism will host its 40th Annual Valentine’s Dinner Dance at Hotel Roanoke on Feb. 9 from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tickets cost $38 with a meal and $10 without and the dance is open to all adults. WDBJ7

- ➤ Center in the Square announced it will not renew the Science Museum of Western Virginia's lease because its exhibits use large amounts of water and cause costly leaks. The nonprofit plans to reclaim the fourth and fifth floors for new interactive exhibits later in 2026 (said President Tara Marciniak). WFIR News
- ➤ Downtown Roanoke welcomes a weekend of culture with staged readings at the Bear Theatre from Friday to Sunday, Mysticon performing at the Holiday Inn Tanglewood, and a 70th-anniversary commemoration of the 1956 Norfolk and Western 611 wreck at the Virginia Museum of Transportation on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. WFIR News

- ➤ Roanoke business owners urged City Council Tuesday to reconsider proposed changes that would raise security fees & limit downtown event frequency. City officials cited rising event numbers & staffing challenges as reasons for the review. WFIR News

- ➤ The FDA said recalled cans of yellowfin tuna (linked to botulism concerns) were accidentally shipped to stores including some Giant Foods locations in Virginia. Customers should not eat the product and must return it or contact Tri-Union Seafoods for a refund or replacement. WDBJ7
- ➤ Cleveland Clinic’s Dr. Peck recommends that women begin strength training twice a week to lower osteoporosis risk and boost heart health; he advises starting with light weights (to perfect form) and gradually adding load (for safety), with exercises like bench press, deadlifts or squats.
