  • The Science Museum of Western Virginia must vacate Center in the Square by December, forcing it to find a new home and raising questions about the center’s public funding as city officials plan changes to nonprofit support.  WFIR News
  • The Franklin County NAACP and local volunteers will unveil a monument to Black Civil War soldiers on Sunday — the day before Martin Luther King Jr. Day — after two years of dedicated work.  WFIR News

  • Vinton PD is strengthening prevention and building community trust by launching outreach initiatives. Officials said the department will add community programs + safety workshops in the coming weeks.  WDBJ7
  • Governor-elect Spanberger visited the inaugural Made in Virginia market in Richmond Friday with over 40 artisans, small business owners and food vendors from across the Commonwealth. Roanoke vendors joined the event where the first 1,000 guests received free commemorative tote bags in celebration of Virginia’s 75th Governor.  ABC 13
  • Botetourt County officials said a planned Google data center is already generating revenue that funds three new ambulances + upgraded sheriff equipment + school transportation for local students, even as debate continues. Leaders plan to reinvest the funds to boost public safety and education as the project moves forward.  WDBJ7
