- ➤ Buchanan Library faces a major renovation as county officials weigh renovating the historic multi-level building or moving to a nearby single-story facility, and residents are invited to share their thoughts at public meetings + an online survey. WDBJ7
- ➤ A nonprofit has proposed the Sky Garden Project to install a 130 ft tall Ferris wheel atop Center in the Square to boost tourism with sweeping views of mountains and the city, and will request $250,000 from the state for a feasibility study for enclosed (heated) gondolas for yearlong rides. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Do Portugal Circus had its first show Friday at 8:00 p.m. in the Valley View Mall parking lot and will perform daily until Jan. 25. The fifth-generation family event features over 40 performers & crew practicing traditional acts. WDBJ7
- ➤ Hometown Entertainment has unveiled a new series – History That Doesn't Suck – that will debut later this week in Roanoke, offering engaging takes on local history for families and community members. The show promises a creative twist on age-old stories, making history fun and accessible. WDBJ7
- ➤ The Salem Stampede Championship Rodeo (celebrating its 59th anniversary) began in 1969 when organizers Jack Dame and Bruce Lehrke launched the event as the Loretta Lynn Rodeo. The first rodeo ran from April 12 through April 14 and has grown into a cherished Roanoke Valley tradition. WSLS 10
